AethOS Docs / The Directory

The Directory

The Directory group in the left sidebar is where you manage the tenants AethOS serves and the people inside them. You’ll find three items under Directory: Tenants, Users & People, and Groups. Everything except the tenant list itself is scoped to the tenant you’re signed in to.

Manage tenants

A tenant is an isolated space that owns its own directory, infrastructure, deployments, and policies. Tenants are fully separated: work you do in one can never reach another’s data.

  1. In the sidebar, open Directory and click Tenants. A Tenant List tab opens.
  2. You’ll see a table with Name, Slug, Description, Status (a chip — ACTIVE is green, SUSPENDED amber), and Contact Email.

To add a tenant:

  1. Click New Tenant in the button row above the list.
  2. Fill in the tenant’s details (name, slug, description, status, and contact email) and save.

To change one, select its row and click Edit Selected (or double-click the row), then save your changes. Use Refresh to reload the list.

Edit Selected and Delete Selected stay disabled until you’ve selected a row.

Manage people (Users & People)

Users are the people who administer the current tenant.

  1. Open Directory → Users & People. A User List tab opens.
  2. The table shows First Name, Last Name, and Email.
  3. Click New User to add someone, or select a row and click Edit Selected (or double-click it) to change their details.

To remove someone, select their row and click Delete Selected. AethOS asks you to confirm — “Are you sure you want to delete this user? This action cannot be undone.” — before removing them. Refresh reloads the list.

Organize people into groups

Groups let you manage access and responsibilities for a set of people at once rather than one at a time. Groups belong to the current tenant and can be nested under a parent group.

  1. Open Directory → Groups. A Group List tab opens showing ID, Name, Description, and Parent Group.
  2. Click New to create a group, or select one and click Edit (or double-click it) to change it.
  3. To remove a group, select it and click Delete; AethOS asks you to confirm first. Refresh reloads the list.

Good to know

  • Sign-in lives in Kanshin, not here. The Directory is about who belongs to a tenant and how they’re grouped. Authentication, passwords, roles, and multi-factor policy are handled by the shared identity service — see the Kanshin documentation .
  • Machine identities aren’t in the Directory — they live under Security as Identities (AppRoles) . The Directory is for human users and groups.
  • Deleting a tenant is permanent. Selecting a tenant and clicking Delete Selected prompts you — “Are you sure you want to delete ""? This action cannot be undone.” — and removes it once you confirm. There’s no undo, so use it deliberately.
  • Security — roles and members that grant access, plus the machine identities deployments act as
