Members & Invitations

Belonging to an organization is called membership. A person can be a member of more than one organization, and they only ever see the data of the organization they are currently working in. This page covers how people join and leave.

Membership

A member is a user who belongs to your organization. Membership is what lets a user see and work in the organization; the specific things they can do are governed separately by their roles .

You can view the members of your organization on the Members page under Security.

Inviting people

To bring an existing person into your organization, invite them by email:

  1. On the Members page, choose Invite member and enter the person’s email address.
  2. Kanshin records a pending invitation for that email.
  3. The next time that person signs in to Kanshin, they see the pending invitation and can accept it to join your organization, or decline it.

Accepting an invitation adds the person as an active member; if they did not already have a Kanshin account, one is created for them as they accept. You can also revoke a pending invitation before it is accepted.

An invitation is matched to the invitee by their email address, so the person who accepts is always the person you invited.

Removing a member

You can remove a member who should no longer have access. Removing a member takes away their membership and their role assignments in your organization at the same time.

Kanshin will not let you remove the last member who is able to administer the organization — this prevents an organization from being accidentally left with no one able to manage it. Assign administrative access to someone else first, then remove the member.

Switching between organizations

If you belong to several organizations, you choose which one is active from the organization switcher in the console. Everything you see and do applies to the active organization until you switch. A member of a single organization goes straight into it with nothing to switch.
